As many of you in the West Region are aware, Hurricane Hilary is approaching with potentially severe weather for our California and Las Vegas markets, as well the western edge of Phoenix, beginning Sunday and through Tuesday. Storm impacts include heavy rainfall, strong wind gusts, and the potential of flash flooding, mudslides, and power outages. While forecasts often change, we’re actively monitoring the storm and taking steps now to protect our business – and most importantly, keep you safe.  

As the storm progresses, we’ll post operational updates with links to safety resources. In the meantime, please take weather-related precautions now to prepare for the storm’s impacts, and be ready for critical updates. Your safety is our highest priority, and as always, we’re here to support you.

Here’s what you need to do to prepare:

  • Check in with your leader for specific reporting guidance in California/Las Vegas for the weekend, Monday and Tuesday. If you have special needs, please let your leader know as soon as possible. 
  • Update your contacts in Workdayso we can reach you in the event of an emergency.
  • We use our emergency messaging tool to text, call, and email you so you can respond that you’re OK or need help. If you receive a message, be sure to listen to the full message and follow response directions
  • Personal preparedness: Refresh emergency kits, power up your devices, get batteries, flashlights and gas-up vehicles in advance of the storm’s arrival. Have food, water, and medical supplies on hand. For resources and tips to help you prepare, visit the Be Ready section of this site.
  • Flash floods develop quickly, with little warning. Never walk or drive through flooded areas. Find higher ground. Go deeper on flash flood safety.
Following the storm, promptly check in with your leader to report your wellbeing. If you experience storm damage or loss of power, contact your leader as soon as safely possible. If you are unable to reach your leader, call 1-877-COX-IMOK (1-877-269-4665) for assistance.
